Personal information is important


Australian Financial Services Limited (AFS) is committed to safeguarding personal privacy. It recognises that individuals have a right to control how their personal information is collected and used. Providing personal information is an act of trust and it is taken seriously. Unless given consent to do otherwise, AFS will only collect and use personal information as set out below.

AFS has developed and implemented best practice on privacy policies. These principles meet and exceed the requirements of the Australian privacy legislation.

Collecting personal information


AFS will not collect or monitor any personal information about an individual without their consent. The only personal information collected is what has been provided voluntarily. At any time users may monitor, change and delete any personal information about them stored with AFS.

Cookies are pieces of information that a web site transfers to a computer's hard disk for record keeping purposes. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies. AFS uses cookies to save non-personally identifiable information such as site layout settings. The cookies used to not distinguish between or track users of the site.

AFS does not send advertising information without obtaining prior consent. If an individual receives communications from AFS which they do not wish to receive, they may remove their name from the database by contacting AFS.

Individual's right of access


Individuals have the right to review, delete and change the personal information that may be recorded in the AFS database. Information may be reviewed, changed and deleted by either contacting AFS or logging in to the AFS website and clicking on the 'Edit Details' button.

Storage and security of personal information


AFS will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to keep secure any personal information recorded, and to keep this information accurate and up to date. The information is stored on secure servers that are protected in controlled facilities. AFS employees and data processors are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by AFS. However, security of communications over the Internet cannot be guaranteed, and therefore absolute assurance that information will be secure at all times cannot be given. AFS will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to personal information.

AFS and links to other web sites


AFS provides links to web sites outside of the AFS site. These linked sites are not under the control of AFS, and AFS is not responsible for the conduct of companies linked to the AFS website.
